Biblical Counseling services
How does the counseling work?
First there is an application process with questions addressing spiritual, emotional, personal, family and health back grounds. Additionally a personal testimony is required. Upon approval, counselees will begin a process of intensive discipleship. The counseling is customized and typically delivered in 12 week segments which includes daily homework and a weekly counseling sessions. The homework consists of bible study, scripture memorization, sermon teachings, and biblically-based reading materials. The weekly session is a 1:1 contact with a certified biblical counselor focused on the previous weeks work and biblically addressing life circumstances. Why do we require homework in biblical counseling?
The primary purposes of the homework are to ensure that individuals are pressing in to the Word of God, establishing biblical disciplines, and to shift the focus to the Lord and His teachings. Digging into the work daily through studies packed with scripture leads counselees into a greater reliance on God and the Holy Spirit, who is the True Counselor. Hebrews 4:12 says the word of God is living and active sharper than any two edge sword dividing soul and spirit joint and marrow and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. It is vital to the soul to study the Word of God, and to press into godly teaching. It is where the believer finds the answers pertaining to life and godliness, as stated in 2 Peter 1:3.
